Through school, i've always been a lot like Jafar. He's the villain in Aladdin trying to steal the Sultan's throne. Jafar does a lot of sneaking around, lying, and deceiving--at the end he literally becomes a snake. (Ironically, his best companion is his parrot Iago. Just take that in.)
Though not this dramatic, I did do a lot of faking my way through things.
I was pretty good at it.
Then the genie gave me my "second wish". I learned how to analyze things.
I no longer had to snake my way around papers or books.
Now I could actually do it.
This is a speech I wrote for Shylock in the Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare. I applied what I learned about the character to it, and it ended up being pretty creative.
So now I knew that there was more to read than what I thought, and if i spent the time, i wouldn't have to pretend to know what the text said. i WAS THEN ABLE TO FIND DEEPER MEANINGS.
I could articulate my ideas, but now i had to prefect that skill.
